Cairo

Egypt

Meself and Charmin got an Aer Lingus flight to London Heathrow and went from there to Cairo International with British Airways, which was poxy. Ya’d think Ryanair would be flyin’ there direct by now. Ya can also click on the link to get more information on holidays to Egypt.

WHERE TO STAY

5 star hotels are the way to go in Cairo, especially coz not only are they dirt cheap but they’re really safe as well. Meself and Charmin stayed in the Grand Hyatt on Roda Island and I felt only the image of Cleopatra, the Egyptian Queen, not the 90’s pop band. There’s a revolvin’ restaurant which I’m always very fond of and there’s beautiful restaurants and that in the hotel and even swimmin’ pools and a gym. We even had 2 double beds in our room, although whatever about Charmin, I’m a fat bitch and was well of it.

WHERE TO EAT

The one thing about Cairo is ya have to be careful what ya eat. Me and Charmin were on the jaxx a lot more than was comfortable over the weekend and it got to a stage where not even the McDonalds was stayin’ down. Egyptian food is mad and after I started off real adventurous, I decided to go for more normal food the stingier me bum got. There’s some lovely places to eat though and Felfela and Abu Sid are like the Egyptian equivalent of Abrakebabra. They have restaurants on boats on the Nile and I have to say, that was only lovely. Whatever ya do, don’t drink tap water. Isn’t that right Charmin?

WHERE TO DRINK

Well put quite simply, ya can’t really. They’re not overly fond of the alcohol in this part of the world. Remember it’s a Muslim country so it wouldn’t be a good idea for good lookin’ youngones like meself or Charmin to go out in public lookin’ the way we normally do. Especially Charmin. Allah wouldn’t be impressed at all.

WHAT TO DO

This is Cairo so there’s loads to see. Someone said to me that there’s 16 million people livin’ here which is a severe amount isn’t it? There’s the Egyptian museum and even I was interested in that. They have all the old statues and mummies and that and they even have Tutenkamuns mask which is only deadly seein’ it up close. Nice bit of jewellery around as well and it’d put Elizabeth Duke to shame. There’s the Pyramids as well which I’ll be honest again, are only amazin’, especially seein’ them close up. You’re not allowed climb them although someone should have told me that before I started. The Sphinx is there too but I’m awfully confused about what it is. There’s loads of fellas annoyin’ ya to buy stuff at the Pyramids so I wasn’t well of that. There’s markets and souks to buy the few bits. Heliopolis near the airport is the posh part of Cairo and there’s a few things to see there. The gaffs are unreal. Castleknock hasn’t a patch. Make sure ya go on a camel!

OTHER TIPS

It does get very hot and the pollution doesn’t help and ya thought Dame Street in July was bad. Be careful in taxis. It’s worse than Waterford. Do not fall into the Nile! Don’t climb the Pyramids. I’m not well of bein’ shot at by armed guards of a holiday!
