Edinburgh

Scotland

I flew on me own over to Edinburgh Airport with Aer Lingus and then got a bus to the city centre where I met me Uncle Dessie who was stayin’ there for some work thing for a few weeks which turned out well for me coz I got a free trip to Scotland.

WHERE TO STAY

Well Edinburgh is a very touristy city so there’s loads of hotels and all the rest of it to stay in but I had gone over to stay with me Uncle Dessie who was bein’ put up in some place by the company he works for. The gaff was only the image of mafis and it was just 3 or 4 minutes walk from Tesco which is always handy. The city centre was only about 15 minutes walk away which is grand once ya don’t have a few drinks in ya. Don’t even ask me to remember the name of the road the gaff is on, or the area it’s in, or anythin’ really. I was very drunk most of the time.

WHERE TO EAT

You’re never short of a bit of scran in Edinburgh. Obviously with Tesco down the road we were sorted. There’s loads of places to eat out though. There’s Rose Street where ya can go and have the bit of pub grub and they do some lovely stuff. Chippers are the big thing in Edinburgh. They don’t do salt and vinegar though. Its salt and sauce and it’s not tomato ketchup. It’s some form of brown sauce. There’s a disco chipper where there’s a DJ playin’ while ya eat. Ya have to try the deep fried Mars Bar. It’s Edinburgh’s national dish.

WHERE TO DRINK

There’s a good few pubs dotted around Edinburgh and we tried as many of them as we could. Drink is very reasonably priced. Well at least I think it is. I had fellas buyin’ it for me most of the time. There’s some good clubs lie Base, Diva, Ego, Faith and the Liquid Room and if you’re a gay there’s CC Blooms. Not that me Uncle Dessie is gay or anything but a friend of his from work is and he took us for the laugh. I actually liked CCs to be honest.  There’s the karaoke goin’ on upstairs and the dancin’ downstairs so everyone’s kept happy. Try mixin’ Irn Bru with Vokda. It’s gas. Literally.

WHAT TO DO

Edinburgh’s the most visited place in the world. No I don’t think that’s right. Maybe in Scotland? Anyway there’s a good bit to do. If you’re in to culture and stuff there’s Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile although the only queens that live near it are 2 married gays called Tom and Jock. Shoppin’ is great in Edinburgh and ya can find all the big names on Princes Street. Cockburn Street is where ya can find all the artsy places but be careful. It’s pronounced Coe-burn! Cock burn is something totally different. So me Uncle Dessie tells me.

OTHER TIPS

Edinburgh can be cold in winter. Go in summer. Cheese burgers in the chippers are like batter burgers with the cheese INSIDE! MAFIS!
